“I recently installed Resolve 17 and I have some MPG files i need to import. opening the drives in the media browser i can see the folder but not the files in it. are there any plugins i can use to add codecs to resolve?”

How to convert and import MPG video to Davinci Resolve?

Step 1. Add MPG files

Install and launch the MPG to Davinci Resolve converter. Click the Add button to import your .mpg videos to the program. Checking the “Merge into one file” box allows you to merge several videos into one file.
