Solutions to Blu-ray player Playback issues or Can’t Play blu ray discs

Blu-ray discs also have region codes, but most studios don’t enforce the region code restrictions, which are way more lax than for DVDs. There are a few exceptions to this rule, so there are no guarantees. Also, hacks that exist for Blu-ray players usually don’t turn off the region code setting for Blu-ray discs – it usually just makes playing DVDs a region-free experience. Sometimes, it also unlocks the Blu-ray region code, also.

But There are more and more issues about Blu-ray Player can not play Blu-rays.

“Issue 1. Samsung Blu ray player will not play blu rays anymore: I have a Samsung blu ray player. It used to be fine, but lately it does not play any blu rays. Once in a blue moon after you turn it off, then turn it on, then reset it, then turn it off, etc… it will eventually let you play a blu ray, but it is a struggle. Now, with DVD’s it plays that perfectly fine. Why would this be? What is wrong? And it is not the blu rays because I put a brand new blu ray movie in just yesterday and it would not work. It just, for whatever reason, only plays DVD’s now.”

Answer: It Sounds like a bad firmware update. Blu-ray, unlike DVD, is a dynamic format. It’s essentially software (menus, etc. use a type of Java) so it requires up-to-date firmware to keep up-to-date with the latest blu-ray technology. Unfortunately every once in a while, just like when you update a program and something stops working right, there will be a bad software update. Also, if you power off during update, or the update was otherwise interrupted while being applied it could do this. Not being able to read the software of the blu-ray it can only read “dumb” discs in plain formatting like DVDs and CDs.

This is only my best guess based on the information you’ve given. See if there’s an available update and update it. If not, contact Samsung and see if you can possibly revert to an older version of firmware (assuming that is the problem) and of course see if they can figure out what exactly the problem is if this doesn’t fix it.

Issue 2. “Blu-ray disc won’t play on Sony Blu-ray player”

Answer: If you are having problems playing a blu-ray disc is your blu-ray player, try the following.

1) Check the firmware-make sure you have the latest version. If your BD player uses the Xross media bar, following these steps:

Press the Home button > Select setup > Select System Settings > Press the Enter button on the remote > Scroll down and select System Information and press enter.

The Firmware version will appear on the screen. Write this number down and go to to see if you have the latest version. Just follow the instruction to perform the update.

2) If your BD player doesn’t have internet connection, you can check the firmware version by:

Press the System Menu button > Highlight Setup and press the ENTER button > Highlight Video Setup press the ENTER button > Highlight TV Type and press the ENTER button > On the remote, press the Blue button

The current firmware version of the player will display. Write this number down and go to to see if you have the latest version. Just follow the instruction to perform the update.

3) Some BD players requre that a USB memory device is inserted in the EXT slot of the player prior to playing the movie. It’s recommended to use at least 1GB. If you already are using one and run into a disc not playing, try removing the USB device and plugging it back in.

Here’s a few more things you can try.

(1.) Reset the BD Player:
Remove the disc from the BD player > Turn off the BD player > Unplug the power cord of the BD player from the electrical outlet > Let the player remain without power for one minute > Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet > Turn on the BD player > Insert the disc into the BD player

(2.) Make sure that the Parental Control settings are not set to “On”.

(3.) If the BD player supports the BD-Live feature, set the BD Internet Connection setting to “Do Not Allow” and delete any conflicting BD-Live date from the BD/DVD Viewing Settings menu.

Issue 3. Cannot get my Blu Ray Pioneer player to play Blu Ray Movies

“I just recently got a new blu ray player, and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to play blu ray movies on it, I have the latest codecs, and VLC but even that won’t play it, even after installing the legendary codecs for VLC, So what Do I do to get it to run my Blu Ray movies, Please help, I even bought Media Player Center for it, but no go with that as well. Here is the info on my pioneer blu ray player. Pioneer BD – Rom BDC – 207D ATA Device Edit: I have Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit”

Answer: In order to successfully watch Blu-ray discs or BD ISO on pc or laptop, you must have three things: 1) a Blu-ray disc drive, 2) a Blu-ray movie, and 3) Blu-ray Player Software(Need decrypting Blu-ray function). VLC cannot play blu-rays without encryption keys held by the film companies. As they’re not willing to hand over the keys to an open source program, you’ll need to buy a blu-ray playing software. And UFUSoft Blu-ray Player Software is the best region-free software to quality-losslessly play back all Blu-ray movies on Windows, including Windows 10/8.1/8/7/XP/Vista. As professional Blu-ray media player software, it could play back all Blu-ray discs in the market, Blu-ray folders and Blu-ray ISO files.
