4K is a new resolution standard designed for digital cinema and computer graphics. Compared with common 1080p or 720p videos, it offers higher image definition quality, more detailed picture, better fast-action and larger projection surface visibility. Though 4K footage looks amazing, it hasn’t accepted by the majority media players or editing software like Davinci Resolve. Supposing you intend to import and edit 4K clips with Davinci Resolve, you’re likely to encounter similar issues as below:

“I have encountered some tricky issues when importing some amazing 4K footage recorded from a Panasonic camera, they play choppy and really slow, sometimes Davinci Resolve even couldn’t recognize them, let alone for editing. I’m seeking for the solution to the 4K footage to Davinci Resolve importing & editing issues. Any suggestion is appreciated!”

For you knowledge, according to Davinci Resolve’s spec, it has certain requirements for input video formats, not all video formats are accepted by Davinci Resolve well. In addition, although Davinci Resolve has boasted the capacity to handle with 4K files without much problem, it is extremely hardware intensive especially for working on a old computer.
